“The Trail Fire of 1961: Toledo Firefighting's Deadliest Disaster” – 28 minutes
On June 10, 1961, a gasoline tanker truck exploded on the Anthony Wayne Trail near Collingwood. Four Toledo firefighters were killed, and 11 others were injured. This is the most tragic fire in the department’s history. The fire service has a saying: “As long as their names are spoken, they are remembered.” Directed by Phillip Kaplan, in conjunction with the Toledo Firefighter’s Museum, this film gives meaning to the words: The Trail Fire. It explains how the fire happened and shares the experiences of those who responded through original video footage and recent interviews with surviving TFRD retirees.
Doors at 5pm, movie starts at 6pm.
